Isn’t it true that NFTs have become a worldwide craze? Their popularity and reach are rising by leaps and bounds every day, with global superstars and major corporations releasing NFTs on a regular basis.
Have you ever heard of a ‘ordinary man,’ or, more precisely, a’student,’ who has become an instant fame in the NFT space? If you haven’t met this Indonesian selfie student before, now is the chance!
Ghozali Ghozalu for you.
Meet Ghozali Ghozalu, a 22-year-old Indonesian student who ‘accidentally’ began selling his selfie photos on OpenSea, a peer-to-peer NFT marketplace.
Ghozali’s collection, named “Ghozali Everyday,” spans five years, from 2017 to 2021, and includes selfies taken by him practically every day from the age of 18 to 22.
How Did $3 Selfies Become Millions of Worth?
Ghozali claims that he’s only standing in front of his computer day after day in his 933’selfie’ photos released as NFTs.
Nonetheless, a few NFT collectors chipped in during the OpenSea sale, and it became a meme.
He apparently began selling the images for 0.001 ETH ($3.25) apiece on Sunday, January 9th, 2022, when he launched the NFT, and they sold out in just a few days.
He made $3,000 on his first sale. The collection then peaked at over 1 ETH ($3250) per NFT after two days, and had settled down around a floor price of 0.38 ETH with 277 ETH in traded volume yesterday, implying that the floor price is worth around $1.4 million, having previously hovered around the $3 million mark.
Not only that, but there’s more. According to data from the NFT marketplace OpenSea, his collection Ghozali Everyday even made the top 40 on OpenSea’s 24-hour trading volume rankings, with a stunning 72,000 percent increase in activity.
Who promoted Ghozali’s collection?
The Indonesian famous chef Arnold Poernomo, the Indonesian sneaker and streetwear entrepreneur Jeffry “Jejouw” Jouw, and other members of the decentralised finance community have praised the 22-year-NFT old’s collection.
After the collection was semi-jokingly’shilled’ by Jouw, Poernomo and other investors ‘bought in planning to help Ghozali Ghozalu earn more cash.’
They are now purportedly assisting in the collection’s management by hosting a Ghozali Discord forum.
