Lamborghini, an Italian carmaker, has announced that it will release its first non-fungible token (NFT) next month.
Lamborghini is following in the footsteps of Nike, Samsung, and other IT giants in adopting NFTs.
“This is Lamborghini`s historical first NFT project. In collaboration with the artist Fabian Oefner, Lamborghini developed five art pieces, that will go on auction on February 1,” the company said in a statement.
A physical element and an NFT component are used to create the art pieces: The physical aspect of the Space Key is a piece of carbon fibre that Lamborghini blasted into space.
The digital component is an NFT of an image of a Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae soaring into the sky.
As the car climbs above the earth, Oefner made a total of five unique photos, each depicting a different time within seconds of each other.
Its components, including the engine, transmission, suspension, and hundreds of nuts and bolts, are ejected from the chassis like a rocket’s exhaust flame.
